From June 21 (evening arrival) - 25 (morning departure), 2012, the winegrowers of Cote Chalonnaise have agreed to host a 2012 meeting of the IAPP. Lodging, breakfast and perhaps more will be provided for those attending.
Denis & Micheline Tremblay will be our connections for this working vacation in the beautiful Cote Chalonnaise! Working with their unique connections in the region they have put together a fantastic stay for us with the wine growers in the region. What better way to go beyond what the tourists see than to stay in the communities hosted by the wine makers!
Exhibit and meeting space will be provided at Nicephores City in the town of Chalon-sur-Saone, only 15-20 km from the vineyards. This wonderful city is home to a recently renovated sugar factory and to the Niecpe Museum. (Niecpe is widely considered the French father of photography.)
In exchange for lodging and accommodations, usage rights to professionally created photographs taken of the host vineyards will be transferred to the vineyards.
Located to the south of Paris, bordered by the Saone, the Loire and the upper Seine, is Burgundy, traditionally the crossroads of France. Burgundy is synonymous with fine wines and good food; some of the greatest vineyards in the world call this beautiful region home. At the western edge of this broad Saone river valley lies Cote Chalonnaise, a wine growing sub-region of Burgundy. It sits on the rising ground overlooking the town of Chalon-sur-Saone, which gives the region its name.
The vineyards of this region cover agrarian rolling stretches of land, and is shared with orchards and other farms. The vineyards do not run along the slopes of a single escarpment, but are located on three isolated patches of limestone.
